Snapchat & Instagram remove Giphy feature over racist gif

Snapchat has temporarily removed its Giphy GIF sticker feature after a user saw an extremely racist GIF as an option. It's similar to Instagram's feature that works the exact same way.

To tag someone, type out a username in the text field and then swipe up on the "more" option located at the bottom of the screen, which will open a section titled 'People, ' displaying the user's information.

Snapchat told TechCrunch, "As soon as we were made aware, we removed the GIF and have disabled Giphy until we can be sure that this won't happen again. while we wait for Giphy's team to take a look at it".

For now, tagging seems to be appearing on the app for some users. But as there is no dropdown menu for the moment, there isn't much help available if all you can remember is the other person's name rather than their Snapchat nickname, which could be completely different.

If you tag someone in a post, you will get a notification saying that someone has 'mentioned you in their Story'.

Guide: How to get 'Fortnite Battle Royale' on your mobile device
The same game on all platforms. " Fortnite Battle Royale " mobile application will not be available to everyone after its release. Just last month (February 2018), 3.4 million people were battling for top honours simultaneously around the world.

The social network is trialling giving users the ability to tag other people in their Snapchat Stories.

Both Snapchat and Instagram had introduced the feature in February that allows users to include GIFs from the media repository Giphy in their snaps and "Stories".

Tapping on the username prompts a pop-up that will take them to that profile.

Discussions are rife about how Snapchat has borrowed this feature from Instagram this time. The widely-used messaging app, WhatsApp also lets you use GIFs without any hindrance. It also comes with an "add" button so users can follow them.
