Trump's Military Parade Set for Veterans Day, Will Include Heavy Air Component

In a memo, it said tanks would not be involved to help limit damage to roads.

The event, which will take place November 11, will include troops from different branches, highlight the growing role of women in the armed forces and have a "heavy air component" of modern and historic war planes, the memo says. Notably absent are military tanks and any other military vehicle without wheels, but the parade will feature an air display and soldiers in period costumes.

Trump had directed the Pentagon to plan a parade for later this year, possibly on Veterans Day, to showcase the us military's strength. It has been estimated that a major military parade, would cost anywhere from $10 to $30 million.

President Donald Trump may actually get his military parade after all - sort of. It will close with a "heavy air component", which officials hope will include older planes.

The memo, signed by Navy Capt. Hallock Mohler, executive secretary for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, confirms the parade is set to take place on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

A leaked Department of Defense memo to the Joint Chiefs of Staff highlights some of the details of the upcoming parade, according to CNN, which first obtained the memo.

Among the list of "planning considerations" was to merge the event with the annual Veterans Day Parade in Washington, and to have it run from the White House to the Capitol.

"We have a great country and we should be celebrating our country", he told Fox News in a recent interview.

The suggested plans do, however, call for a representation of veterans across USA history and an air demonstration, according to a note from Defense Secretary Jim Mattis's office at the Pentagon.

Trump decided he wanted a military parade in Washington after he attended France's Bastille Day celebration in the center of Paris in July.

"We'll see if we can do it at a reasonable cost, and if we can't, we won't do it, but the generals would love to do it, I can tell you, and so would I", Mr. Trump said last month.
