Kathy Griffin plans first United States shows since Trump photo controversy

Kathy Griffin is an American comedian and actress.

Griffin told Bill Maher she is not "decimated" - despite the wishes of the Trump family.

Griffin has not specified the dates of her upcoming shows in NY, which she also announced on Twitter, and in Washington.

Last June, Griffin received backlash for a controversial photo shoot with photographer Tyler Shields, in which she posed with a bloodied replica of President Donald Trump's head.

Griffin announced her first US shows since the gruesome photo, which showed her holding a bloody mask of President Donald Trump's head, was released in May 2017.

She appeared on HBO's "Real Time" with Bill Maher and announced she has booked several shows at New York City's Carnegie Hall right in "Trump's backyard".

She says she is dipping her toes into touring, even though the Trumps didn't want her to work again.

Soon after her appearance, Griffin tweeted to confirm the news.

As for her infamous firing from CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast with Anderson Cooper, she said "I only worked there one night a week, but they made this sweeping statement".

The Secret Service even begun an investigation into the comedian and interviewed her.

Asked whether she lost friends over the controversy, Griffin said, "I'm down to three gay guys and you, but I hear you're fluid".

"I did an overseas tour, and I was detained at every single airport", she told Maher.

"There were times they took my devices".

Determined not to do a "perp walk", Griffin and her attorneys negotiated to have the DOJ interrogation take place at her attorney's office. I didn't get a DUI.

She contrasted that public support with other unnamed "celebrities" who, she said, texted her "saying "Don't tell anybody about this text, [but] I totally support you".
