Kristen Wiig comes on board to play the villain, Cheetah

Gal Gadot in a scene from the movie 'Wonder Woman'

Wonder puns aside, Jenkins is thrilled to have her on board as well and confirmed the multiple rumors that Wiig was in talks for the role.

With a tweet on March 9, Jenkins announced the news and shared that she "can't wait to finally work with one of [her] favorites". And SO excited by what we have planned.

The hashtag hints at Wiig's speculated role as Cheetah, the sequel's villain and Wonder Woman's longtime comic book rival with superhuman strength and agility who hungers for human flesh.

With "Wonder Woman" grossing over $800 million worldwide, both Gadot and Jenkins, who each only had a one-movie deal, had the upper hand in negotiations for the next installment of the story of the Amazonian princess.

Fans can expect to see a lot of Wiig in the upcoming movie, as the plot is set to focus on the rivalry between Cheetah and Wonder Woman. "This is going to be WONDERful!".

Cheetah is one of Wonder Woman's key nemeses.

Cheetah has taken many different forms since her introduction in 1943 but Kristen is most likely to play Barbara Ann Cavendish, who has a passion for mythology and multiple archaeology degrees.

Wiig is an eight-time Emmy nominee, for her work primarily in the sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live", and is known for movies like "Bridesmaids", "The Martian" and "Ghostbusters". The film has been schedule to release on December 13th, 2019.
