Jamie Carragher: Former Liverpool defender apologises for spitting incident

Carragher, one of Britain's best-known football pundits, has been suspended by Sky after footage emerged of him spitting through his auto window at a 14-year-old girl who was goading him about Liverpool's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. It ends with the girl saying to her father that Carragher's spit had hit her in the face.

Speaking to presenter Alan Brazil on TalkSport, Jones said: 'It is cowardly. For Christ's sake, he is supposed to be one of the top men. "I wish I could go back and change it, obviously that's not the case".

And as he arrived at Euston station in London from Liverpool, he said: 'I'll speak to the family again.

Carragher says he was "goaded" but also admitted he was "totally out of order" and has apologised to the family.

"I've done a lot of stupid stuff, and we all get stick, but to do that", he continued. The most important people I'd like to apologise for is the family involved. It's devastating for the family involved and my family, but it's down to my actions that's brought that on. "I've let my family down but I've let the family in the vehicle opposite me down. Obviously, I'd like to apologise to them again, if possible".

The video shows Carragher reacting to being teased about the result after a auto pulls up alongside him in traffic.

Donald Trump touches down outside Pittsburgh ahead of PA-13th election
With the election just three days away, both campaigns have been attempting to galvanize their voters to turn out to the polls. But Lamb also supports the duties, so the issue isn't as effective a wedge for Saccone and Trump as it might otherwise be.

"Look, he's made a mistake but say that was me, I think my position should rightly be under fire and I think his will be".

"But there's a little bit of context needed in thinking he saw a young girl and chose to spit at her, that's not quite how it was in his moment of madness".

'Spitting at 14-year-olds through a window? I've done a bad thing and have to accept whatever comes my way.

"They will be aware of the media storm", he said.

A Danish television channel has pulled him from its coverage of United's Champions League game against Sevilla at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Former Manchester City footballer Joey Barton called the act "absolute madness".
