Sean Smith will be released by Oakland Raiders

Smith is accused of assaulting his sister's then-boyfriend Christopher Woods in Pasadena last August, causing five fractures to the victim's eye socket. Also Monday morning, The Los Angeles Times reported that Smith, 30, is expected to serve jail time for his role in an altercation that occurred previous year in Pasadena.

Aldon Smith was released from the Oakland Raiders over an alleged March 3 attack, but he's fighting charges. The Raiders released Smith today which wasn't a huge surprise considering his release would free up $8.5 million in cap space, without costing the Raiders any dead cap space. He allowed opposing quarterbacks to post a 116.5 passer rating when targeting him in 2016, according to SportRadar.

The 2009 second-round pick has spent nine years in the National Football League, splitting 137 games (123 starts) with the Raiders, Chiefs and Dolphins.

No one wants a trade war, says China
Part of the reason for the trade gap, Zhong said, was that the U.S. had restricted hi-tech exports to China. The two sides haven't halted economic dialogues and will continue the exchanges, the minister stressed.

Over two seasons with the Raiders, Smith appeared in 29 games with 22 starts and totaled 77 tackles, four interceptions and 17 passes defensed.

Ellis was originally a fourth-round pick by Oakland in 2014. Last season, he lost his starting job to TJ Carrie before becoming one of the Raiders' better defenders in the last month of the season. He said he was only on the field in certain packages early in the season and could not get into the flow of a game as a result. He has 51 catches for 532 yards and three touchdowns.
