Trump Administration Looking into Death Penalty for Drug Dealers

The nation’s political junkies have their eyes focused on Western Pennsylvania and it may give us a hint about November 2018 will look like

Ron Johnson criticized President Donald Trump for advocating the death penalty for drug dealers Sunday, saying the USA should not follow China's lead on criminal justice. "I don't think we should play games".

President Donald Trump speaks to supporters Saturday in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, in a bid to gain support for Republican congressional candidate Rick Saccone.

The Washington Post reported earlier Saturday that officials at the Domestic Policy Council and the Department of Justice are looking into introducing legislation allowing prosecutors to seek the death penalty for dealers.

"Do you think the drug dealers who kill thousands of people during their lifetime, do you think they care who's on a blue-ribbon committee?" he asked.

"That's why we have a problem, folks".

"He said 'We have a zero tolerance policy".

Ciccarone said there is also concern that the laws could ensnare low-level drug dealers, many of whom do not know that their products contain lethal amounts of opioids and some of whom are battling addiction. "... These people are killing our kids and they're killing our families, and we have to do something". To back that up, Lamb opposes sweeping gun restrictions, endorses Trump's new steel tariffs, avoids attacking the president, and tells voters he wouldn't back Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California for speaker if Democrats won a House majority. Bernie Sanders, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., as "Pocahontas", and described one television news reporter as a "sleeping son of a b--". "When you catch a drug dealer, you've got to put him away for a long time".

Trump has also announced the slogan for his 2020 presidential re-election campaign - 'Keep America Great!' "I know her weakness", said Trump, without giving details.

During the event, the president also veered off into a list of other topics, including North Korea, his distaste for the news media, and his own election victory 16 months ago.

The White House recently confirmed that the North Korean leader would meet him for the first time in May.

"Who knows what's going to happen?" I offered a deal that was so good you can't refuse, right?

President Trump is holding a campaign rally outside of Pittsburgh on Saturday night to boost Republican congressional candidate Rick Saccone, who has been struggling to lock up a special election in a district Trump won by almost 20 points in the 2016 election. The election is set for Tuesday.

The race could signal how much help Trump can provide Republican congressional candidates trying to keep control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in midterm elections next November.

Republicans spent $8 million on TV ads over the weekend, outspending Conor Lamb's campaign 2-to-1 with a campaign visit from Donald Trump Jr. slated for Monday, Politico reports.

If the rest of the 2016 Clinton-Trump modeling performance stayed the same and if, for example, Lamb was able to bring out his own wave of Democratic voters and increase the number of votes in the most heavily Democratic precincts so those areas made up 10 percentage points more of total vote as compared to in 2016, that still would only get him within 15 percent of Republican Rick Saccone in the special election. He predicted a "big & happy crowd (why not, some of the best economic numbers ever)". Rick will help me a lot. "Lamb will always vote for Pelosi and Dems. Will raise taxes, weak on Crime and Border".

The President's appearance also comes after a particularly active week at the White House.
