Twitter Is Dragging Betsy DeVos After Her Painful '60 Minutes' Interview

DeVos There is an ‘urgency’ in solving gun violence

Following a rather trainwreck interview on 60 Minutes, on Monday morning Education Secretary Betsy DeVos popped up on Today where she was grilled on the Trump administration's newly outlined school safety plan, and it went maybe only slightly better than the former appearance.

"I'm not so sure exactly how that happened". On Sunday, the Secretary of Education appeared on 60 Minutes, which did not go, objectively speaking, well. She is a champion of using public funds for private and religious school education, and critics say she is determined to privatize public education.

Lesley Stahl: The public schools here are doing worse than they did. "We've stagnated", DeVos said. Since World War II, the number of students in American public schools has climbed by 96 percent, according to U.S. News. "One only needs to follow the trail of donor money to Republicans to know that Walker has done her bidding, funneling money away from our public schools and mismanaging education". DeVos: I have not - I have not - I have not intentionally visited schools that are underperforming.

"Maybe you should", Stahl said.

"The whole state is not doing well", Stahl pushed.

"I have not", DeVos responded. If DeVos was coached to be as vague and non-specific in her answers as possible, she should get rid of the person giving her that advice.

Stahl also got asked about administration changes to Title IX rules that make it harder for accusers to prove accusations charging sexual assault, the Washington Post noted.

Jay-Z, Beyonce Coming To US Bank Stadium In August
Although the post was quickly deleted, fans took it as a sign to get in formation because the real thing would be coming soon. Tickets for " OTR II" will be available for purchase on www.livenation.com starting on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.

That led Stahl to challenge DeVos on whether she believed the number of actual assaults on college campuses was equal to the number of false accusations.

'Yeah, but are they the same?' the interviewer pressed.

"I don't know, I don't know". I don't know. But I'm committed to a process that's fair for everyone involved. "Communities should have the tools, states should have the tool, but nobody should be mandated to do it".

'But for those who are- who are capable, this is one solution that can and should be considered. "No one size fits all".

"The 13 minute segment was heavy on critics who despise DeVos", said the Media Research Center's Scott Whitlock.

"She is facing the glare of the spotlight much more than they did and the press is much less friendly to her", Petrilli said. "I think probably there, I would imagine that there is probably a gun in the schools to protect from potential grizzlies", she had said.

In a broad discussion that covered the school system in her home state of MI and the overall public school performance in the country, the secretary stumbled to answer basic questions pertaining to her current role.
