Packers to release Jordy Nelson

Fantasy Football Breaking News

The Packers had a different timeline.

The Green Bay Packers released veteran Jordy Nelson, the third-leading receiver in franchise history and one of Rodgers' top targets in the passing game.

If anything, Nelson could end up providing Jared Goff with another weapon to work with on this high-powered offense that surprised a lot of fans past year. But it'll be odd to see the Packers line up this fall without No. 87 in the lineup.

Nelson bounced back well in 2016 after tearing his ACL the previous year and his past performance will likely give teams reason to think he can rebound again this season.

No one will ever forget the contributions #87 brought to Green Bay anytime soon. "Definitely a sad day and the toughest part of this business".

And now, with their golden tickets in hand, both Turner and Lorenzo are headed to Hollywood! "Who's Loving You" by the Jackson 5. Koby already had been cast on the Broadway stage and thought she was a shoo-in for this competition.

With Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb on the decline, Gutekunst is intrigued by the marquee names available at wide receiver. "He's everything you want a pro to be and he'll be missed".

The decision to cut Nelson, 32, creates $10.2million in cap space for the Packers and leaves just $2.3m in dead money.

Last season Nelson's numbers dipped.

"There were a lot of discussions that went on", Gutekunst said. His 7848 yards placed him fifth, his 69 touchdowns ranked only behind legendary Don Hutson and his 25, 100 yard games was third most. Sports' Jordan Schultz, Nelson already had New England in mind when he found out the Packers planned to release him. Attempts to reach Nelson Tuesday evening were unsuccessful. Graham remains a touchdown-scoring force but didn't offer much after the catch in 2017. All six of those TDs came before Rodgers' Oct. 15 injury. However, Aaron Rodgers and offensive tackle David Bakhtiari might very well have sent a cryptic message out Tuesday via Twitter. He averaged a career-low 9.1 yards per catch last season but also managed to haul in 10 scores for the first time since 2014.

"I don't think at this time", Gutekunst said.
