Shakeup At Nike, Top Executive Leaves Amidst Workplace Behavior Investigation

Trevor Edwards discusses the Apple Watch with Nike+ during a media event in San Francisco

The Journal cited a Nike spokesman saying there were no allegations against Edwards.

Edwards, the No. 2 employee at the world's largest shoe and apparel company, was responsible for managing Nike's sales units across the world, its wholesale, retail and e-commerce business. This disturbs and saddens me...

While the note did not specifically implicate Edwards, Parker did say that he "determined to make the necessary changes so that our culture and our company can evolve and grow". "This has been a very hard time", he wrote, according to the Journal.

The memo ends with Parker thanking Edwards: "I'd like to thank [Edwards] for his significant contributions to Nike over the last 25 years".

Nike made Elliott Hill, formerly president of Nike Geographies, president of the company's consumer and marketplace group. Others considered to be in the running to replace Parker as CEO include current chief operating officer, Eric Sprunk, and Michael Spillane, who is in charge of design, products and merchandising.

The news comes ahead of Nike's third-quarter earnings results, which will be reported after the close Thursday.

United States radio giant iHeartMedia files for bankruptcy
There are eight iHeart stations in Los Angeles, for example, and six in NY , including Z100, a pop powerhouse. In a statement , the company said it was hoping to maintain business as usual during the bankruptcy.

Edwards will now serve as an adviser to Parker until his retirement, the Nike spokeswoman added.

Nike sits at the nexus of the entertainment, sports and corporate worlds - all of which have been rocked in the past year by allegations of misbehavior by prominent figures.

Nike confirmed the departure of a second senior executive within 24 hours on Friday, an apparent shake-up after the global sportswear giant acknowledged it had received internal complaints about workplace behavior.

We are going to be doing a comprehensive review of our HR systems and practices along with elevating our complaint process for matter of respect issues.

Edwards has worked for Nike since 1992, first joining as a regional marketing manager, and is credited with leading the brand's push into fitness tracking.
