England and Quetta star Kevin Pietersen announces retirement

Kevin Pietersen celebrates England's World T20 win

"Best batsman I had the pleasure to play with and the first England batsman that put fear into the Aussies."The England and Wales Cricket Board also posted a message, saying "thank you" to Pietersen.Former England team-mate Andrew Flintoff also congratulated him "on an awesome career" and thanked him "for having a positive impact on mine too".

The words suggest this is the end of the road for the 37-year-old cricketer's professional career.

However, after playing all of their matches so far in Sharjah and Dubai, Quetta will now return to Pakistan to face Peshawar Zalmi at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday - and Pietersen has opted not to travel.

The former England batsman appeared to officially announce his retirement from the game in a series of posts on his social media accounts over Friday and Saturday.

Pietersen played 104 Tests and 136 ODIs for England and in the 2010 World T20 in the West Indies, he played a key role in the England team's triumph - their first trophy in a global tournament.

Mark Arendz to be Canada's flagbearer at Paralympic closing ceremony
Great Britain's trio of snowboarders fell short in landing a medal on the seventh day of the Pyeongchang Paralympic Winter Games. Canada is guaranteed another medal Sunday when the hockey team battles the rival Americans for gold.

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen, who is now a part of Quetta Gladiators, has refused to play Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Pakistan. "Family, animals, golf...! H O M E", the swashbuckling batsman tweeted, before following it up with another message to his 3.65 million followers. "I loved entertaining you all!" "Time to move on!" South African by birth, the T20 specialist played his final professional match in England with Surrey mid-last year and bid farewell to the Big Bash with the Melbourne Stars in January.

"Well done @KP24 on a fantastic career ... Not everyone's Cup of Tea but you will do for me", Vaughan posted on Twitter.

"Absolute pleasure Kelv. Most talented batter I ever saw, Greater guy, go well as I know you will", Jones' tweet read. Former skipper and flamboyant batsman, Pietersen has always managed to hog the limelight irrespective of his presence on or off the cricketing field.

The batsman was sidelined by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2012 and again in 2014 after differences with the team management.

Lots asking what I'm going to do next...
