Clark Gregg Confirmed To Return As Phil Coulson In 'Captain Marvel' Movie

Captain Marvel Brie Larson

Filming for Marvel's first female-fronted superhero tentpole, "Captain Marvel", began Monday in Los Angeles, and a behind-the-scenes photo of a pilot-suit-clad Brie Larson posing in the cockpit of a plane celebrates the occasion. Gregg's character in the Marvel cinematic universe, SHIELD's Agent Coulson, was murdered by Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in 2012's The Avengers, but he was brought back to life in 2013 to headline ABC's Marvel TV series.

The announcement also included confirmation of Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe will be whole once again in 2019 when Agent Coulson returns for Captain Marvel.

Otherwise, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Gemma Chan and Lashana Lynch (who recently replaced a departed cast member) have all been confirmed to appear in the movie.

It's an exciting time for Marvel as production begins on the the 21st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first film to focus exclusively on a lead female superhero.

Captain Marvel has been shooting for a few weeks now, but Marvel Studios has just sent out a press release announcing the start of production.

Gun Manufacturer Remington Declares Bankruptcy Amid Low Sales and Sandy Hook Lawsuits
Arms manufacturers had for years ramped up production as gun ownership became a red-hot social, and political flashpoint. That is partially because a larger percentage of guns in the USA are owned by an increasingly small group of people.

Kevin Feige is the producer of Marvel Studios' "Captain Marvel".

Production will shoot in Fresno, California as well as Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana.

Captain Marvel will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck based on a screenplay from the duo alongside Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. Brie Larson plays the title role of Carol Danvers.

Ronan was first introduced to us in Guardians of the Galaxy as a Kree fanatical, eager to destroy planets with the aid of supervillain Thanos and his precious Infinity Stone.

Lars Winther will serve as co-producer/first assistant director and David Grant will take the role of co-producer.

The key concepts tying these characters together-and to Danvers-are time travel and the emergence of the Kree race in intergalactic politics. (That's not a spoiler after six years, is it?) Since this film is set in the 1990s, his death obviously wouldn't affect the plot of "Captain Marvel". "Black Panther" propelled the Marvel brand's #1 domestic box-office opening streak to a record-breaking 19 consecutive films.
