The former dean, William Strampel, was in charge of the school's College of Osteopathic Medicine, making him Nassar's boss.

The Michigan State University Dean, who supervised former sports doctor Larry Nassar, was arrested for alleged sexual harassment Monday.

The affidavit, which alleges Strampel solicited nude photos from at least one female medical student, said he used his office to "harass, discriminate, demean, sexually proposition, and sexually assault female students in violation of his statutory duty as a public officer". Police also found 50 pornographic photos on Dr. Strampel's computers, many of which appear to be pictures of female MSU students, according to the affidavit.

"Many of these photos are of what appear to be "selfies" of female MSU students, as evidence by the MSU clothing and piercings featured in multiple photos", according to the complaint.

Also on the machine was a video of Nassar performing a medical "treatment" on a young female patient, according to the affidavit.

The Nassar scandal has reverberated far beyond MI, sparking investigations into why the U.S. Olympic Committee, the sport's governing body, USA Gymnastics and the university failed to investigate complaints going back years.

Strampel oversaw Larry Nassar, the doctor MSU employed for almost two decades as he molested women and children, often under the guise of medical treatment.

According to the NBC News, William Strampel, 70, who was dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine until December of previous year, has been charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, neglect of duty, and misconduct of a public official.

Screenshots show he was a member of the Palestine Live group until around the time he became Labour leader in 2015. However the criticism should be "far more nuanced than so many people are making it", she said.

He was arraigned on Tuesday, March 27 in East Lansing.

Nassar was sacked in 2016 for violating the chaperone rules.

Larry Nassar in court earlier this year. Simon and the board, however, allowed Strampel to continue to lead the medical school until last December, when he was placed on medical leave, and resisted calls for an independent investigation until January, in the middle of an extraordinary seven-day sentencing hearing in which more than 160 girls, women and parents read emotional victim's impact statements before a judge levied a 40- to 175-year sentence to Nassar.

Strampel's attorney declined to comment. One of the first actions Interim President John Engler did when taking office was to initiate internal processes to remove William Strampel from his position at the university and strip his tenure.

A lawyer representing more than 150 Nassar survivors praised the MI attorney general for Mr Strampel's arrest. Strampel directed her toward a chair but told her not to sit before instructing her to turn around in a circle twice so he could check out her figure, according to the affidavit. And a teen's 2004 complaint to Meridian Township police also led to no charges after Nassar offered an aggressive defense and insisted he was using a legitimate medical technique.

Nassar was a faculty member and worked as a physician at a clinic on the school's campus, where much of the abuse took place.

Forsythe is leading the attorney general's probe into MSU's role in the Nassar case. "Strampel should never have been left in a position of power and MSU should have acknowledged this failure immediately". Allegations have arisen that question whether his personal conduct over a long period of time met MSU's standards.
