President Trump targets Amazon on Twitter, shares slide

Amazon India Sacks 60 Employees More Layoffs Likely to Follow

Compass Point believes there are "two underlying components to President Trump's disdain for Amazon: an affinity for "mid-century business, ' as Axios puts it; and Jeff Bezos" ownership of the Washington Post".

Axios reports that Trump is "obsessed" with Amazon, seeing it as a threat to real estate and traditional retail industries.

The president also claimed, citing no evidence, that Amazon uses The Washington Post as a "lobbyist".

In case you weren't already aware or forgot, President Donald Trump really does not like Amazon.

To his credit, Trump has voiced his "concerns" with Amazon for years, as he said on Thursday.

Packages and shipping are one area that's growing for the postal service, bringing in more than $19 billion in revenue a year ago even as volume of letters and magazines declined. He has accused the company of not paying enough taxes before, and in December tweeted that the US Postal Service should charge Amazon more for delivering packages.

"I have stated my concerns with Amazon long before the election", he wrote on Twitter.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu also extended his good wishes to Christian citizens. Matt Stump, pastor of Rossville and Bismarck United Methodist churches, will speak on "The Way, the Truth and the Light".

The president is correct that Amazon does not always collect city and local sales taxes, according to analysis earlier this week by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.

He is focusing on Amazon's practice of not collecting state sales taxes for "third-party" sellers on its platform in most of the country.

Is there correlation between Amazon growth and brick & mortar businesses closing? However, Amazon and other big e-commerce companies now routinely collect state sales taxes. Amazon's stock, which is up more than 65 percent in the last 12 months, rose 1 percent to close at $1,447.34 Thursday. Amazon could cash in on its idea as it would not require youngsters to pay these fees in order to shop online.

"If Amazon were to collect sales tax on behalf of 3P merchants, it would raise the price of 3P merchandise relative to Amazon's own inventory, hurting 3P merchants (small business?) and favoring Amazon".

The post office in 2013 started to make Amazon deliveries on Sunday, but the agreement detailing those arrangements remains heavily redacted. Soon after Trump's tweet, the White House indicated imposing taxes on such companies. Generally, no taxes are collected on those, an issue that might be straightened out in the Supreme Court this year.

In some major USA cities, including San Francisco, Philadelphia and New York, Amazon's has prompted the postal service to operate seven days a week because of deliveries, helping generate revenue for the postal service. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said later on Wednesday that the administration isn't considering any changes in policy directed at the company.
