Chinese space station mostly burned up upon re-entering Earth's atmosphere

Any pieces of Tiangong-1

There was no immediate confirmation of the final resting place of any remaining debris.

Subsequent communiques to the United Nations promised to provide a "timely forecast of its re-entry" and that Beijing would "continue to closely track and monitor" Tiangong-1's operation.

"According to my knowledge, we have not found any harm to the Earth's surface".

China's first space station Tiangong-1 was launched in 2011 to serve as an experimental platform for country's future space projects.

Chinese authorities said that the spacecraft's fiery disintegration will provide a "splendid" show similar to a meteor shower, AFP reported.

But the remote location likely deprived stargazers of the spectacle. But fear not, the odds of it hitting you are astronomically remote.

The ESA is now predicting a narrower window of tonight to late Sunday evening. Though it has attempted to reassure the world about the spacecraft, the country still has no idea which part of the earth the parts of the space station will crash-land.

Another group, Aerospace Corp, predicts that Tiangong-1 will crash at 6:53 p.m. CDT, but there is still a chance the station could crash back to earth late Sunday Night into Monday.

The European Space Agency said: "One of the main reasons why it is so hard to make accurate reentry predictions, even if just a few days in advance of an expected reentry, materialised during Thursday this week".

"That's all that happened", he said, as models used by experts to estimate a re-entry point pick the middle time in a return window.

United Nations calls for independent investigation into Gaza clashes
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the Israeli authorities bore "full responsibility" for the deaths. They all expressed alarm at the flare-up of conflict in a volatile region.

"In 60 years of space exploration, only one person - an American woman named Lottie Williams - is known to have been struck by falling space junk, says Ailor, 'and it was just like a piece of fabric material that kind of brushed her on the shoulder'".

Chinese astronauts visited it several times flying aboard the Shenzhou spacecraft.

The Paris-based agency, which is managing the global campaign to follow the laboratory's fall, said on Saturday that the time and place of its re-entry continues to be a "highly variable" prediction affected by the changing solar activity, reports Efe news.

China now operates the Tiangong 2 precursor space station facility, while the permanent station's 20-ton core module is due to be launched this year.

Markus Dolensky, technical director of the International Center for Radio Astronomy Research in Australia, said witnesses to the Tiangong-1 descent should see "series of fireballs" streaking across the sky - provided there were no clouds.

China's defunct space lab could hurtle back to Earth later than previously forecast, with the European Space Agency saying it may re-enter the atmosphere as late as Monday (April 1) morning GMT.

The lab "re-entered the atmosphere because it ran out of fuel, not because it's out of control", according to an expert interviewed by the nationalist tabloid the Global Times.

There is "no need for people to worry", the China Manned Space Engineering Office said on its WeChat social media account.

Tiangong-1 - the name means "Heavenly Palace" - is a 34-foot, two-room, 9.4-ton vessel that was launched into orbit at the end of September 2011.

China also plans to put a man on the moon and send a rover to Mars.
