Cosby's second sex assault trial set for Pennsylvania courthouse

Bill Cosby leaves his sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse Monday

That testimony remained secret until 2015 when parts of Cosby's deposition was released publicly by a federal judge overseeing lingering legal disputes that stemmed from Constand's accusations.

"The main goal was to make Cosby uncomfortable because that is exactly what he has been doing for decades to women", she said afterward. The District Attorney's Office announced that the woman, an actress who had appeared on The Cosby Show, had been charged with disorderly conduct.

European feminist group Femen says one of its topless activists targeted Bill Cosby to call attention to sexual violence and the need to hold perpetrators responsible. Mr Cosby, who is almost blind, arrived at court yesterday on the arm of his spokesman.

"It's a different world".

Bill Cosby's sexual assault retrial has got under way in Pennsylvania - after a topless protester who had appeared on his sitcom caused a commotion outside court. The trial was deemed a mistrial, as the jury could not come to a conclusion. Cosby's lawyers want the juror removed from the case.

According to their arrangement, they would have to keep quiet about the substance of the allegations, but also about the price of that pact - the settlement that Cosby's accuser, Andrea Constand, received to end her lawsuit against the legendary comedian. Cosby's lawyers have signaled they intend to use the settlement to argue that Andrea Constand falsely accused the former TV star in hopes of landing a big payoff.

In court, prosecutors revealed that in 2006, Cosby paid almost $3.4 million to Andrea Constand, the woman he is charged with assaulting.

USA not ruling out military action in Syria
"Nothing's off the table", he said , shortly after noting that major decisions would be made in the next day or two. They include sea-launched cruise missile aboard ships within range of Syria.

Cosby's first trial ended without a unanimous verdict.

Cosby, who has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his Pennsylvania home in 2004, is thought to have walked back to his auto to let the commotion die down before heading back out.

Permeating the entire case is the #MeToo movement, which erupted in October and has seen the likes of Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey shamed and stripped of their positions for alleged sexual misconduct. How the Cosby case fares in Norristown could have powerful ramifications for other potential prosecutions across the nation.

Almost every potential juror questioned for the case this time knew about #MeToo.

Steele reminded jurors that Cosby admitted to Constand's mother Gianna in 2005 that he penetrated the young woman with his fingers, and told the mother, "I'm apologizing because I'm thinking this is a dirty old man with a young girl". On June 17, 2017, Judge O'Neill declared a mistrial after jurors said they were deadlocked after five days of deliberations. "What concerns me is that you're out here protesting -and you have right to protest for sexual assault victims - and you protest by taking your clothes off".

Crucial to the prosecution is O'Neill's agreement to let five other Cosby accusers testify, compared to just one the last time, as attorneys mount a portrait of Cosby as a serial predator.

The judge will this time allow other accusers to give evidence, BBC correspondent Nada Tawfik reports. But the defense has since brought forward two former Temple colleagues of Constand's who said she knew Jackson.
