Experts said the reasons for low sales of Apple HomePod

According to Bloomberg, Apple lowered its expectations and cut orders with manufacturers of the HomePod speaker.

As previously noted by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, whose sentiments were echoed on Thursday by The China Times, Apple's HomePod speaker hasn't gained as much traction with consumers as the company may have anticipated, leading it to begin cutting orders back in March and reduce the HomePod's overall shipment forecast from 500,000 units down to 200,000 during the second quarter. We expect Apple to continually add to its functionality as time goes on, making the HomePod a more attractive purchase. The Siri based smart speaker was launched in January and Apple pinned great hopes on it to compete Amazon Echo and Google Home. During the pre-order period, the HomePod garnered a third of the USA smart speaker market by units sold, according to Slice Intelligence.

It's no wonder repairing the HomePod costs $279, which is 80% of the speaker's initial $349 price tag.

The data, first reported by Bloomberg, suggest enthusiasm among Apple loyalists and early adopters but a failure to attract a broader audience. Since arriving at retail, Apple has managed to snag 10 percent of the smart speaker market, which pales in comparison to Amazon's 73 percent marketshare. Yet Siri's inability to rival Amazon's Alexa and Google's Assistant in practicality, including answering questions or ordering food, has placed HomePod at a competitive disadvantage relative to less expensive smart speakers.

The O'Halloran Hill suspect has been described by police as Causcasian appearance and 40 years old. Detective Superintendent Denise Gray said: 'There are some similarities and some differences.

Apple promotes the device's superior sound quality, however, as the product can only be used with Apple Music, many potential buyers are put off the product. Two months after its commercial launch, the Homepod can still not be paired for stereo listening or multi-room audio.

Although sales have stagnated, Apple still has an opportunity with its speaker, if it can make improvements to its software. Alphabet, Google's parent company and owner of Google Home, is forecasted to sell 18 million and 32 million in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Looking ahead, HomePod sales might eventually see a significant spike amid reports that Apple might release a $150 HomePod later this year. Do any of you now own a smart speaker?
