Europa League semi-final draw: Arsenal to face Atletico Madrid

Lacazette and Wilshere are likely to start tonight’s second leg

The first legs will be played on Thursday, 26 April, and the return duels on May 3.

Real Madrid will take on Bayern Munich for the other place in the final of the Champions League.

The match-ups were decided on Friday afternoon.

And Le Saux believes two-time Europa League winners Atletico - second in La Liga, 11 points behind unbeaten Barcelona - will provide the sternest of tests for the north London side due to their thorough game-plan and defensive organisation.

Atletico will face Arsenal in the last four of the Europa League, but may be without their star man.

United Kingdom helped fake Syria gas attack: Russian Federation
Russia , which has stonewalled diplomatic efforts at the UN Security Council, has vehemently denied a chemical attack took place. President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that he hoped common sense would prevail and that the situation would stabilise.

The Europa League remains Arsenal's salvation this term as it is their only chance of winning silverware, and also because it is their only chance of qualifying for the Champions League given their poor domestic form.

In previous rounds the Spanish side have run to comfortable victories, often finishing the tie by the first leg with hefty victories.

Arsene Wenger saw his side put in a nervy showing against CSKA Moscow in their last outing on Thursday, with two late goals required in Russian Federation to put that encounter to bed.

They overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit against RB Leipzig in the quarter-finals to prevail 5-2 in the return date and keep their dreams alive.

Arsenal, who have never won the Europa League or UEFA Cup, will face the tournament favourites Atletico Madrid in a semi-final clash which both sides would have preferred to avoid. The final will be played on May 16 in Lyon.
