Israeli PM voices 'total support' for strikes against Syria

Israel: Iran drone intercepted in Feb was Strike Assignment

"We are determined and will continue to act against the Iranian establishment of bases (in Syria)", Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, a member of the security cabinet, said on Israel's Army Radio.

The joint missile strike by the U.S., Britain and France on Saturday came just days after Israeli forces reportedly attacked a Syrian air base.

Netanyahu said Israel would not allow Iran to establish itself in Syria, according to his office.

US-led missile assault which saw a barrage of 105 guided missiles launched towards three chemical weapons facilities in Syria in response to a suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma was said to have been coordinated with Israel in advance.

Saturday is Israel's Sabbath, or the Jewish day of rest, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu generally refrains from making official statements in his name.

But "Iran is trying to take advantage of the Shiite-Sunni conflict within Syria in order to create a reality in Syria that will enable it to attack Israel, so in practice it's not totally separated", she told Xinhua.

Syrian President Bashar Assad has denied that his troops used chemical weapons and threatened to "crush terrorism" throughout his country.

Russian Federation defiant after Syria bombing, warns of "consequences"
That attack, White says, hit a Syrian military air base and was meant to focus on Syria's ability to deliver chemical weapons. Pentagon officials said the attacks targeted the heart of Assad's programs to develop and produce chemical weapons.

Hezbollah, like Iran and Russian Federation, is backing Assad in the war.

General Joe Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the strikes hit targets related to Syria's chemical weapons program - a scientific research center near Damascus, a weapons storage facility west of Homs, and a third location nearby containing a command post and an equipment storage facility.

While Russia is being agitated by the coalition attack on Syria, Israel might be the one to pay the price.

The Syrian army said its air defenses shot down most of the 110 missiles fired in the attack.

However, the long-term effect of the worldwide involvement in the Syrian war may not necessarily be negative for Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced earlier this month a new agreement with the U.N.'s refugee agency that would have16,000 African migrants resettled in Western nations and a similar number given temporary status in Israel.
