Ricciardo delighted by shock China GP win

Red Bull's Ricciardo wins Chinese Grand Prix 6th career win

Mercedes have edged in front in the constructors' championship by a single point from the Italian team, who saw Vettel's lead at the top of the drivers' standings cut to nine points by Hamilton.

The Red Bull driver put on an overtaking masterclass in the second half of Sunday's race, after the team's decision to pit their drivers under the safety auto paid dividends.

While all this was going on, Ricciardo was relentlessly hunting down Bottas, and he clinically passed the Mercedes to take the lead on lap 45.

The Red Bull man was unsurprisingly handed a ten-second penalty but that was of absolutely no concern to team-mate Ricciardo as he found an impossible gap to take Bottas and the race lead.

Finishing on the podium with Ricciardo was Valttieri Bottas of Mercedes and Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari.

The win for Ricciardo is made all the more remarkable by the fact he very almost missed qualifying due to a turbo issue on Saturday, and only took to the track after a swift fix job from his own mechanics and those in Verstappen's garage.

Further down the field, Vettel was obviously suffering with a damaged vehicle, as Fernando Alonso squeezed past the German on lap 55 to take seventh place, with the Ferrari driver complaining of having been pushed off the track.

Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton crossed the line fifth behind Verstappen but was promoted to fourth after the Dutchman's penalty was applied.

Kawhi Leonard Officially Out for Game 1
With Aldridge on lockdown, the Warriors' D had accomplished its main mission, because the Spurs lack a secondary source of punch. Iguodala returned to the game for the start of the third, but Kerr said: "Obviously, he'll get treatment and try to get better".

"Putting ourselves 24 hours ago, I thought we might be starting at the back of the grid", the Australian said. He passed Hamilton and closed in on Bottas, but had to settle for third place in the end.

Red Bull could still be in the market to renew the Australian's deal but he remains relaxed about a likely increase in demand for his services.

"We are the second-or third-fastest team at the moment, so we have some improving to do, but that's not impossible". "I just haven't had the pace since yesterday (Saturday), and I struggled with the auto". "(We were) thankful for a few incidents ahead that kept us in the battle".

"We have been underperforming". "It felt like we should have had the victory, but not today".

"I don't know what it is", said Ricciardo. I have got to rectify that and get back into normal performance mode otherwise more points will be lost.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel on his crash with Max Verstappen: "I didn't see him until late and left a bit of room". "I heard safety auto at Turn 14 and that we were going to double stack to come into the box. I said to him 'the races are long, and you threw your podium away.' He realised he messed up, and I appreciate he came up to me straight away".

"That gave us a bit of grip on the restart". Kimi Raikkonen was third for Ferrari.

"When you compete in more races you should get more clever - especially when you want to win or challenge for the championship - but he is going the other way. That is racing. These things happen".
