Ex-NFL Kicker Jay Feely: Prom Date Photo With Gun Was a 'Joke'

In the usual prom night snapshot, he is standing between his daughter and her boyfriend - with one arm around his daughter and the other holding a gun at his side.

Last night, Feely posted a photo of the trio pre-prom. Guns, even when they are "not loaded", aren't jokes. It's also worth noting that Feely's daughter and her boyfriend have been dating for more than a year, according to what Feely said in an explanatory tweet on Sunday.

There were also concerns about a female self-agency that Twitter users managed to raise over the photo, while others didn't seem to mind it all that much and considered the fact that people are taking offense to this photo, as the real joke. In some instances, that joke has involved a dad threatening the new boy in his little girl's life.

Not long after Feely posted the image on Twitter Saturday, the image became the center of Twitter arguments on the importance of gun safety.

Threats put North Korea negotiations at risk
The cost of forcing North Korea to give up all of its nuclear weapons will simply be too high. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) noted the pledge to stop testing nuclear weapons was easily reversible.

It prompted more than 7,000 comments from his followers, describing him as "totally irresponsible" and "terribly out of touch with gun safety".

The 41-year-old Feely played for seven National Football League teams, including the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons, over 14 seasons before retiring in 2014 and joining CBS as a commentator.

Ex-NFL placekicker Jay Feely would probably have escaped without criticism had he not remained a public figure through his association with CBS Sports.
