Microsoft Tech Community: Office 2019 Preview is ready for Commercial customers

Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond Wash

Office 2019 is due for release in the second half of 2018. The developer said that while the office Suite from Microsoft is available only for business customers.

The Office 2019 preview will end on December 31, 2018, allowing testing time before actual commercial release, which is scheduled for the second half of this year, according to a Microsoft FAQ document.

On its Office 2019 preview sign-up page, Microsoft reiterates that "This preview program isn't intended for organizations that plan to deploy or have already deployed Office as part of an Office 365 subscription plan".

Microsoft plans to release Office 2019 at the end of this year. Announced at Ignite past year, Office 2019 is the next perpetual licensed Office product, and it mainly contains new features that Office 365 subscribers are already seeing.

Included in the preview are updated versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access, Project, Visio and OneNote, and while there is only a PC version available at the moment, Microsoft promises that Mac preview will appear in the coming months. And Microsoft just announced that its Office 2019 preview is available for Windows 10 users to try right now.

United Kingdom supermarket giant Sainsbury says in merger talks with Asda
The deal would be the largest in the United Kingdom supermarket sector since Morrisons acquired the Safeway business in 2004. Mike Coupe, the Sainsbury's chief executive, is said to have been a driving force behind the proposed merger.

OS Support and Installation The Office 2019 preview is supported on Windows 10 operating systems that follow the semiannual channel update model.

Microsoft has previously stipulated that all perpetual-license Office products will lose connections to Office 365 services starting on October 13, 2020, according to an announcement it made previous year in April.

Office 2019 also includes new IT value.

In addition to only running on Windows 10, Microsoft has shortened the lifecycle support as well. Instead of providing five years of mainstream and five years of extended support for Office 2019, Microsoft is going to provide five years of mainstream support and approximately two years of extended support so as to align with the extended-support end date for Office 2016 (which is October 14, 2025). As the pace of change speeds up, it is more imperative than ever to move our software to a more modern cadence.

Microsoft also is cutting back on how long it will support the next perpetual version of Office. Microsoft will evaluate "customer needs and industry trends" before deciding on such releases, it noted.
