Dino Melaye re-arrest: Police releases statement

Dino Melaye in Abuja court

The Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has said nothing should happen to the Senator Dino Melaye who was refused bail by a magistrate court in Lokoja and was put under police custody.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Melaye was arraigned before a magistrate court, Lokoja on charges of gunrunning, kidnapping.

"If anything happens to him, the security agencies will be held accountable".

Dogara maintained, "I don't think the law supports a situation whereby someone is in a dire health situation and is being arraigned most especially that that person is a Senator".

Melaye's dare-devilry, said to have been aided by two Hilux trucks that blocked the police vehicle, led Melaye to a private hospital in Abuja, where police pounced on him again and took him to the National Hospital. Their intention is to move him to Kogi State anytime from now.
