'Star Wars' lightsaber and 'Ben Hur' chariot to be auctioned

Star Wars Episode IX Reportedly Is Casting Black Female Lead

You might look at us like we're insane geeks - and we are - but May 4 is one of those days where it's completely allowed, nearly like a Dad Joke Acceptance Day, except it applies to Star Wars because May 4 sounds like "may the force be with you". You know, May the Force be with you. As the vast majority were played with (as they should be) if you've still got some boxed up somewhere, you could be quids in!

The day arose from a pun which was warmly shared by Star Wars fans, who would say "May the 4th be with you", on the day. More info and the video can be found below. Sure, some Star Wars fans might feel a bit lost with all the different references in the piece.

Fans should just take these assumptions with a grain of salt as Lucasfilm has yet to reveal Star Wars: Episode 9's official plotline.

Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in US theaters on May 25, 2018.

Chewbacca has launched the Star Wars #RoarForChange challenge to raise funds for UNICEF's life-saving work for children around the globe. And again, all of these figures are for the domestic box office only. This year's Star Wars Day is also notable in that it falls just days before the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the newest film in the ongoing saga, on May 25 in the United States and the United Kingdom. Good news for the Ron Howard directed feature which saw more than its share of troubles during production.

What is "Star Wars Day"?

Are you looking forward to seeing Chewbacca in the new film? Since purchasing Lucasfilm and acquiring the rights to Star Wars in October 2012, The Walt Disney Company has celebrated Star Wars Day with festivities at Walt Disney World and Disneyland since 2013.

That $160 million is a lot of money, particularly in a 96-hour time period, but it's still below what Disney might hope/expect from a Star Wars movie. Other Star Wars LEGO merchandise will be on sale through May 6.
