Golden State Killer suspect to make surprise court appearance

On April 24th of this year, the Sacramento Sheriff's Office arrested former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in a nearby suburb, identifying him through DNA evidence as the notorious serial killer and charging him with a number of the crimes.

The defense attorney for Golden State Killer suspect Joseph James DeAngelo Jr.is trying to stop investigators from obtaining more DNA samples and photographing DeAngelo's body, including his genitals, according to motions filed this week in Sacramento County.

He was arrested last week on suspicion of numerous murders and rapes in the 1970s and 1980s. He is believed responsible for the murders of Cheri Domingo, 35, Gregory Sanchez, 27, Dr. Debra Alexandria Manning, 35, and Dr. Robert Offerman, 44, as well as an attempted double murder, all in the Goleta area.

In Santa Barbara County, the mysterious killer was known as the Original Night Stalker.

DeAngelo is believed to have been in Santa Barbara County, ranging from Santa Maria to Carpinteria, between 1978 and 1986.

At the time they publicized the notion that he was not well endowed, McGinness said.

He is being in the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail.

The suspect, 72-year-old Joseph DeAngelo, appeared in court handcuffed to a wheelchair.
