North West opposition parties weigh in on Mahumapelo's non-resignation

Mahumapelo is also the provincial chairperson of the ruling ANC in North West.

Residents had protested violently against Mahumapelo's controversial administration‚ bringing parts of the city to a standstill.

Mahumapelo announced that he would take "aggressive legal action" against those making claims against him.

These include the provincial leadership of the ANC's instruction to Mahumapelo, saying he should not to resign until the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) has met.

The urgent meeting was convened following Mahumapelo's announcement that he would resign as the North West premier on Wednesday, a decision he backtracked on shortly afterwards, stating that his structure called him to consult with the PEC on the decision.

On Tuesday, Mahumapelo undertook to send a letter to the speaker of the provincial legislature by Friday - without providing details. "It is individuals that are in the ANC", said Mahumapelo to loud cheers.

Women who eat fast food take longer to become pregnant
Couples were excluded from the analysis if they were receiving fertility treatment due to the male partner's infertility . Eating fast food affects fertility , and could prevent women from getting pregnant quickly, new research suggests .

The North West has been rocked by numerous allegations of corruption and maladministration.

Members of the National Health and Allied Workers Union had also been refusing to work for over two months.

Former premier of the province and the current chair of the National Council of Provinces, Thandi Modise, is being touted to replace Mahumapelo. "The Premier's resignation must not save him from being prosecuted", he said.

However, on Wednesday, Mahumapelo's supporters stormed a meeting of the ANC PEC.

"Having a PEC where he is still captain of the ship...they will still dictate whom they want as MEC's so the fight is not over yet", he said.

This is also owing to the fact that Ramaphosa placed the platinum-rich province's health and treasury departments under central government control and deployed army medics to treat hospital patients.
