Calif. Parents Charged After 10 Kids Removed From Home

Police in Fairfield California removed 10 children from a home on March 31 due to what they called

Ten children believed to be living in "horrible" conditions were removed from a home in Fairfield, California, police announced Monday. He was booked into the Solano County Jail on nine counts of felony torture and six counts of felony child abuse.

The 30-year-old mother is out on bail after her arrest in late March, in which she was being charged with abuse after police returned her 12-year-old son to the family home after he had been reported missing.

Arraigned Monday in Solano County Superior Court, Allen pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Hurlbut says the children's father, 29-year-old Jonathan Allen, was arrested Friday after officials interviewed the children. Officers then conducted a "health and safety search", which led to the arrest of Rogers that day and the removal of 10 children from the home.

Sharon Henry, chief deputy district attorney for Solano County, said she was "horrified" by the statements from the children.

The children were "living in squalor and unsafe conditions", police say.

Authorities say that their investigation revealed years of both physical and mental abuse of the children.

In a separate case, prosecutors in Riverside County filed eight new charges against a man accused of shackling and starving some of his 13 children, alleging that he lied on government forms about their schooling.

"Not only do I have 11 children and I'm 30 years old, but I also home-school all of my children, and people don't agree with that lifestyle".

Ireland 64/0 following on, 116 runs behind Pakistan at stumps
But at close of play at 7pm, Ireland were 64 without loss in their second innings, and suddenly Test cricket seemed a whole lot... Pakistan declared its first innings on 310 for 9 in the only Test match against Ireland on Sunday after playing 96 overs.

Rogers told reporters that the children chose to sleep in one bedroom because they were close, and that the other four bedrooms were used as a master bedroom, a playroom and a meditation room, according to the AP. She said her son was upset when she took his iPad away because he didn't do one of his chores.

"But my husband is an unbelievable person".

Rogers claims the mess came from her tearing the house apart to look for her son in March.

Rogers, who says she got pregnant at 16 and has 11 biological children, said she feels she's being judged for having so many children.

During the tour, the four-bedroom house in Fairfield appeared messy with scuffed walls and animal feces in the bathroom. She said Rogers spoiled her children and the messy house was just life with children, cats, a dog and fish.

Court records do not indicate whether the parents have lawyers.

Here is what we know so far about Ina Rogers and Jonathan Allen.

Neighbor Larry Magnaye stated he had no thought there have been 10 youngsters dwelling in the home throughout the road.

The parents would wave when leaving the driveway, but he never saw the children in the yard or heard them playing in the backyard pool."It's a pretty big house", he said. "This is absolutely appalling", Ina Rogers said, standing in the doorway of her Fairfield home while giving reporters her reaction to charges she and her husband abused, even tortured, their 10 children.
