In addition to the Seahawks, Knox enjoyed two stints with the Los Angeles Rams as well as a healthy chunk of National Football League time with the Buffalo Bills.

One of the first and most impacting things the Seahawks did after hiring the former five-time division victor with the Los Angeles Rams in 1983 was instill his relatively conservative, run-first philosophy based on tireless preparation and attention to detail.

Knox's died Saturday night at the age of 86 following a long fight with dementia.

"His presence projected an external toughness, but merited instantaneous respect by the genuine care and concern he held for his players", the Seahawks said in a statement. "He was one of many nice influences not exclusively in soccer, however in life".

Los Angeles also went on to issue a statement of their own, noting Knox's accomplishment in "being the only coach to lead the Rams to five consecutive double-digit-win seasons". "We hold his family in our thoughts and prayers during this hard time", according to the Rams statement.

Although it can be much more serious to deadly for young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Last month " Rose acre farms " recalled more than 200-million eggs distributed from its North Carolina facility.

Knox was the first coach to take the Seahawks to the playoffs. Knox won at least 10 games in all five of his seasons with the Rams, but his teams faltered in the playoffs, he never reached the Super Bowl, and he left the Rams after the 1977 season. In 2005, Knox was inducted into the Seahawks Ring of Honor in recognition of his achievements with the franchise.

Carroll along with former players Jack Youngblood and Brian Bosworth, who both played under Knox, were among those who paid tribute on Twitter. God bless you always. He also earned the coveted Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year award three times over his 22-year career, including twice with Seattle.

Despite their regular season successes, Knox teams routinely came up short in the playoffs.

Born in the suburbs of Pittsburgh in 1932, Knox was a lineman at Pennsylvania's Juniata College in the early 1950s and immediately went into coaching after he graduated. "I know I made the right choice". He began his coaching career as an assistant at Juniata.

Even the New York Jets took the time to honor Knox, who was their offensive line coach from 1963-1966. Knox became the Lions' offensive line coach in 1967 and missed out on the Jets' win in Super Bowl III the next season.
