Duke University graduates its class of 2018

Tim Cook encourages fearlessness, echoes Steve Jobs during Duke commencement [Update]

Cook also seemed to take a swipe at Facebook, which has endured a barrage of negative press following the Cambridge Analytica scandal, by saying that Apple rejects the idea that privacy and technological innovation are mutually exclusive.

"Fearless like the students of Parkland, Florida, who refuse to be silent about the epidemic of gun violence and have rallied millions to their cause", Cook said to rousing applause. Google collects user information, as well, so the Apple CEO's jab was also directed at them and any other internet company that uses user information for their own gains. Exactly what form a video service from Apple may take still remains unclear, but Cook provided a little clarity into the company's thinking. It's especially beneficial for Apple and other large US technology companies that have hundreds of billions of dollars held overseas and are now bringing that money back. However, it has often been touted as an example of a firm that doesn't need to spy on everything that its users do.

Apple had no comment on Cook's speech, but the company has insisted in the past that its message about privacy has been consistent for almost a decade. Apple will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference from June 4 to June 8, and Cook is expected to offer more substantial updates during a first-day keynote address.

Speaking at his alma mater Sunday morning, Cook told the Duke students technology has made today "the best time in history to be alive", despite wide divides in society.

Google Drive Renamed to Google One with New Storage Plans
Google also reports that soon there will be a new app for Android that helps users to manage their plan (and not files). As per the company, the Google One is a simple plan for extended storage that includes extra benefits at a lower price.

Cook opened by expressing his excitement to be back at Duke.

In a meeting at the White House recently Tim Cook criticised Mr Trump's approach on trade with Beijing amid lingering fears of a trade war.

And certainly the slogan that did come up was "Think Different" keeping in tune to what Apple had as its slogan in the late 90s.
