Leonardo DiCaprio and Steven Spielberg eyeing Ulysses S. Grant biopic

Leonardo DiCaprio & Steven Spielberg May Reteam for Ulysses S. Grant Biopic

Deadline has learned that Academy Award winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Steven Spielberg are now in talks to work together again for the first time in over 15 years on a biopic about Union army General Ulysses S. Grant. The last time Spielberg made a movie about an American president was 2012's Lincoln which went on to win Daniel Day-Lewis his third best actor Oscar, so seeing the director helm yet another epic with a star like DiCaprio is perhaps only going to fuel more awards talk.

The Grant project was set up previous year at Lionsgate with DiCaprio and Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson producing a movie version of the Ron Chernow's 2017 biography "Grant".

Spielberg has a few other irons in the fire at the moment too, including the forthcoming fifth movie in the Indiana Jones series, and a new screen adaptation of West Side Story. Grant led the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy under the supervision of Lincoln.

It would be their first time back together since 2002's Catch Me If You Can.

Oscar-winner DiCaprio is working with Quentin Tarantino on a film concerning the Manson family murders, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He has also been attached to headline two Martin Scorsese films; a biopic about U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and crime-drama Killers of the Flower Moon.

Steven Spielberg could be set to make a second biopic movie about a former United States president.

He also served two terms as U.S. President, from 1869 to 1877, spearheading the Republicans in their efforts to remove the vestiges of Confederate nationalism and slavery during Reconstruction. His latest movie was the futuristic blockbuster Ready Player One.
