Michael Cohen Reportedly Advised Potential Clients Not to Deal with Corey Lewandowski

Michael Cohen

Michael Cohen was secretly paid at least $400,000 by Ukraine to arrange talks between President Donald Trump and Ukranian president Petro Poroshenko previous year at the White House, theBBC is reporting.

That aide found his way to Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen, who was reportedly paid between $400,000 and $600,000 to make the meeting happen.

Cohen is under investigation by federal prosecutors, who last month conducted searches on his office and other locations. Though Freidman reached a deal with NY state, he may be in a position to brief federal prosecutors who are probing Cohen's financial dealings, including his taxi holdings, real estate ventures, and legal and political work for Trump and others.

Nonetheless, Mr. Freidman's agreement to cooperate in his tax fraud case in Albany could have larger implications.

In June, prosecutors for now-former state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman charged Freidman - a native of Russian Federation who allegedly boasted repeatedly of assets exceeding $130 million - with failing to pay the state $5 million between 2012 and 2015.

"The Taxi King admitted that he built his empire by stealing from New Yorkers", New York State Attorney General Barbara Underwood said. So if he wants them to go away, he has to enter his own plea deal where he agrees to roll on Donald Trump to State and Federal prosecutors and investigators and hand over any and all information that he may have on that.

This is what set up the encounter with Cohen, who spend decades as Trump's personal lawyer and fixer, it was said. "Freidman pocketed money that should have provided much-needed investment in our transit system - and now he'll have to pay back every cent". The charges could have resulted in years in prison if he'd been convicted.

Cohen tweeted Wednesday that he was "one of the thousands" of licensed taxi operators who turned to management companies.

Cohen is under "criminal investigation" by the U.S. attorney in Manhattan.

Mr Cohen is facing a probe by the United States attorney's office in Manhattan, which is examining his business practices.

But that same Port Washington channel may have been used before in an effort by affiliates of Russian President Vladimir Putin to end sanctions against Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine, according to reports in The New York Times. "'Gene Freidman and I are not partners and have never been partners in this business or any other.' #MediaWrongAgain".

Freidman has for years managed a number of taxi medallions for Cohen in New York City and Chicago, and the pair have been friends since the 1990s. He in turn used personal contacts in a Jewish charity in NY state, Chabad of Port Washington.
