Motz not happy about Trans-Mountain pipeline purchase

The Canadian government is planning to buy the Trans Mountain oil pipeline from major energy corporation Kinder Morgan for $4.5 billion in an effort to secure its construction.

The regional Member of Parliament reflected on Tuesday's announcement from the federal Liberals, who reached an agreement with Kinder Morgan to take over the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline project, which involves twinning an existing pipeline that runs between Edmonton, AB, and Burnaby, B.C. That doesn't include money that will have to be spent for the proposed twining of that pipeline.

Scheer, who is also the MP for Regina-Qu'Appelle, continued to lash out against the federal government on Wednesday, saying Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is "making taxpayers bail him out for his own failures" and that the Liberals in Ottawa have done "literally nothing" for nearly a full year to get Trans Mountain built.

In a news release on April 8, Kinder Morgan CEO Steve Kean said, "If we can not reach agreement by May 31, it is hard to conceive of any scenario in which we would proceed with the project".

The investment in a pipeline makes little sense while the cost of renewable energy like solar and wind continues to fall, he said.

Now, 40 years after the pipeline agency was created, the main line still hasn't been constructed.

The transaction is expected to close in August 2018.

'We will not stand down no matter who buys this ill-fated and exorbitantly priced pipeline'.

"As far as the regulatory environment with respect to ensuring this pipeline is built, what has changed?" "The lack of leadership on this issue is now fully evident".

Ottawa has said it does not intend to own the project in the long-term.

'OMG this is WRONG': Retired teacher corrects letter signed by Trump
So when she received the letter in the mail, she pulled out her go-to purple pen and started making corrections. Mason's comments also draw attention to redundant expressions and overuse of the pronoun "I" in Trump's letter.

"I will continue to do my best to protect B.C's interest by ensuring our coast, our water and our land is kept pristine so our economy can continue to grow", Horgan said, noting that his government is working within the courts.

"The good news though is that I now know the owner and have his phone number and I can call him with my concerns", he told CBC on Tuesday.

Horgan was adamant that his government should not shoulder any blame for the cost taxpayers may or may not incur.

That could leave us with a Northern Pipeline Agency 2.0. "The government responded and that's their business".

Other political figures took to social media to share their thoughts on the decision. A sardonic Craigslist user has put the controversial Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain expansion up for sale.

"This is a continued betrayal of promises made to us by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau", said Khelsilem, an elected councillor and spokesman for the nation, in a statement.

Premier Dwight Ball says seeing Ottawa getting involved in the Trans Mountain pipeline is a good sign for future oil and gas projects in the province. He was briefly interrupted by several anti-pipeline protesters.

It's not yet known if the date of the protest will be moved up in light of today's decision.

Canada's Chamber of Commerce, which represents Canadian businesses, said they support moving forward with the pipeline expansion project.
