Why Kim Kardashian West went to the White House

Hollywood California. adidas and Kanye West announce the future of their partnership adidas + KANYE WEST

Kim Kardashian, center, arrives with her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley at the security entrance of the White House in Washington, Wednesday, May 30, 2018. She was expected to meet with Jared Kushner, the president's adviser and son-in-law, who has led the Trump administration's efforts on criminal justice reform. I just ain't feel good about it.

If the Trump White House really is an overblown reality TV show, then think of this as a crossover.

Earlier, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders had confirmed Kim Kardashian would be visiting.

Much of the world's attention has been on the potential meeting between the USA president and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, but a summit with a different Kim took place at the White House yesterday.

But Kardashian planned to raise the case of Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother imprisoned for a first time drug offence, according to a statement from one of Johnson's lawyers released in advance.

In a tweet, Trump said that he and Kardashian discussed "prison reform and sentencing".

Puerto Rico Hurricane Death Toll Over 70X Greater Than Official Count
The Puerto Rico government said it "always expected the number to be higher than what was previously reported". The result agrees with other independent estimates that indicated the death toll was closer to 1,000 .

Specifically, Kardashian talked about Trump possibly granting clemency to Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old nonviolent drug offender now serving a life sentence behind bars.

Thanking the president following their conversation on Wednesday, Kardashian tweeted that her visit was aimed at freeing Alice Johnson, a 63-year-old Memphis woman serving life in prison for a first time, non-violent drug offense. "Nice assembly with @KimKardashian at this time, talked about jail reform and sentencing", Trump tweeted, together with a portrait of the pair behind the Resolute desk within the Oval Workplace.

Johnson is now serving life behind bars at the Aliceville Federal Correctional Institution in Alabama. After watching the video, the A-list celebrity felt that Alice deserves a second chance and she would help her get it.

Kardashian West's activism in prison reform is recent.

Following her sit-down with Trump, Kardashian West will then attend a dinner at Kushner and Ivanka's home.
