Alexander Zverev ends Grand Slam hoodoo against top-50 players

Alexander Zverev

Zverev continues to find ways to win when he doesn't necessarily play his best, but like I said before, the amount of tennis he's played has to be catching up to him.

After squandering two break-point chances, Zverev made amends in the Russian's following service game in the second set to take command but Khachanov hit back on his fifth break point when the German served for the second set to secure the break back.

But Zverev edged a tense fourth set in which he was issued a code violation for being coached from the stands by his father Alexander Sr. Zverev has played 18 sets to get to this point, and that type of wear and tear is eventually going to catch up to him.

Could this be the turning point for Zverev at Grand Slams?

Dominic Thiem is coming off a four sets win over Kei Nishikori that took 36 games to decide.

The second seed recovered to win from two-sets-to-one down for a third consecutive match at the French Open on Sunday.

Hamptons 'builder to the stars' feared dead in plane crash
Grieving loved ones hunkered down at the Krupinski compound in East Hampton, with private security guards turning away reporters. Krupinski has built the palatial homes owned by such Hamptons luminaries as Martha Stewart and Billy Joel.

Nishikori won just 14 points in the first set and nine in the second, losing to Thiem for the first time. Thiem has split his last eight quarterfinal matches overall.

It is the seventh time the world No.35 has reached the French Open fourth round, but it is the only grand slam tournament where he is yet to make the last eight.

Germany´s Alexander Zverev celebrates after victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina´s Damir Dzumhur at the end of their men´s singles third round match, on day six of The Roland Garros 2018 French Open in Paris on June 1, 2018.

If she wins that match, Keys could meet Stephens in the semifinals.

Keys beat No. 31 Mihaela Buzarnescu of Romania 6-1, 6-4 while Stephens, the U.S. Open champion in 2017, blew past Anett Kontaveit of Estonia 6-2, 6-0 in just 52 minutes on Court Philippe Chatrier. Zverev is the hottest player in the world outside of Nadal and despite being shaky at times, he continues to muscle his way through matches and shows great mental toughness.

"Fours hours for the match, I´m a bit exhausted, Bautista Agut plays with too much patience for me, but I´m very happy to have won the match", said Djokovic. Give me Zverev to reach the French Open semis.
