Government denies no deal Brexit plans predict "armageddon"

Theresa May

The plans are a rejig of the "Maximum Facilitation" option, one of the two post-Brexit custom solutions considered by ministers.

According to the Sun, Davis' proposed special economic zone along the 499km border would in effect support local traders, such as farmers, who make up approximately 90% of all cross-border traffic.

An unnamed Whitehall source acknowledged it would be a challenge to secure backing for the plan from the DUP, and it was sharply criticised by opposition politicians.

"A significant amount of work and decision making has gone into our no deal plans, especially where it relates to ports, and we know that none of this would come to pass".

Britain will have a good set of proposals on Brexit policy ready for a meeting of European Union leaders this month, interior minister Sajid Javid said on Sunday, adding that he expected a positive response from Brussels.

But addressing the claims on Monday, Theresa May's official spokesman said such projections were "completely false".

Dog found dead after cross-country flight
Oshan also represented the owners of Koketo, the French bulldog who was killed on a United Airlines flight back in March. The plane made a scheduled stop in Detroit, where Delta says a flight attendant checked on Alejandro at 6 a.m Wednesday.

"Once again this shows the lack of knowledge of border areas and the concerns they face - David Davis obviously didn't learn much on his flying visits".

DUP MP Sammy Wilson also said the idea was "nonsense".

"Whilst the idea seems to be that movement can take place within the buffer zone, what happens to trade from outside the buffer zone when it crosses into that zone?"

Northern Ireland will be granted joint United Kingdom and European Union status, according to an anonymous government official, in a plan that could shatter the Conservative-Democratic Unionist Party alliance in Westminster. Do checks have to be carried out there?

"To suggest that Northern Ireland be tied to both EU and UK regulations, when one of the objectives of leaving the [EU] Single Market is to allow the UK to set its own regulations, raises the question which regulations apply to Northern Ireland if and when the UK and the EU regulations diverge", he said.

"We are equally clear that we are working towards a deal because it's in the interests of both sides".
