Mueller Runs Up $16 Million Tab in Trump-Russia Investigation

Trump speaks to the media as he departs the Oval Office for New York City May 23,2018. Trump answered questions about his upcoming summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as well as about the Robert Mueller investigation

Donald Trump can not have obstructed justice because he is America's top law enforcement officer, his lawyers have argued according to leaked 20-page memo. Trump can "terminate the inquiry, or even exercise his power to pardon", the lawyers claim, and any actions he takes cannot "constitute obstruction because that would amount to him obstructing himself".

Trump tweets Friday: "A.P. has just reported that the Russian Hoax Investigation has now cost our government over $17 million, and going up fast".

The lawyers also made the broad claim that "every action that the president took [amid the Russian Federation investigation] was taken with full constitutional authority pursuant to Article II of the United States Constitution", and thus, "these actions can not constitute obstruction, whether viewed separately or even as a totality". Is the Special Counsel/Justice Department leaking my lawyers letters to the Fake News Media?

The President slammed the report Thursday, saying "At what point does this soon to be $20,000,000 Witch Hunt, composed of 13 Angry and Heavily Conflicted Democrats and two people who have worked for Obama for 8 years, STOP!" So bad for our Country.

"I mean, we're leaning toward not", Giuliani told ABC. President Bill Clinton was charged with obstruction in 1998 by the House of Representatives as part of his impeachment trial.

President Donald Trump, under pressure from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 US election, probably has the power to pardon himself but does not plan to do so, his attorney Rudy Giuliani said on Sunday.

Sekulow and Dowd, who has since resigned from Trump's legal team, also talk about the priorities and perception of the presidency. And one of the articles of impeachment prepared against Richard Nixon in 1974 was for obstruction.

Questions Loom Over FBI Agent Whose Gun Fired Inside Nightclub
Julie said she was shocked by the incident and wanted to make sure her friends were OK at the moment. "You're here to have fun!" The agent tucked the weapon back into his waistband, raised his hands and walked away from the crowd.

Giuliani has said a decision will not be made about a possible presidential interview with the special counsel until after Mr Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on June 12 in Singapore.

Whether Trump's lawyers' interpretation of the Constitution is correct is an open to debate.

In another eye-opening section of the letter, Trump's lawyers contend that the president's interview with NBC's Lester Holt two days after he fired Comey has been "widely misreported and mischaracterized".

The lawyers also claimed they have been so forthcoming in response to the special counsel's requests for documents and interviews with other witnesses that it would be unnecessary to interview the president.

Comey has said that Trump asked him to let the case against Flynn go in an Oval Office meeting the day after Flynn's firing. Dismissal of the attorney general, says that report, "would be hugely problematic" for the president as it would nearly certainly "intensify allegations of obstruction of justice".

"As only one of two people left who could become President, why wouldn't the Federal Bureau of Investigation or Department of "Justice" have told me that they were secretly investigating Paul Manafort (on charges that were 10 years old and had been previously dropped) during my campaign?"

In a statement to CNN, Giuliani said, "All they get to do is write a report".
