Apple introduces macOS Mojave

The Mac App Store has been completely redesigned. The new version of macOS is called Mojave and it brings a lot of the under-the-hood developments to the desktop ecosystem and CEO Tim Cook described it "chock full of new features".

Dark Mode is your basic "night view" desktop theme that replaces the white and bright grays -a staple of the "Apple look"- with black and dark gray colors. During the presentation, Apple showed off a scene of the Mojave desert as it transitioned from a sunlit day to nighttime scene. A new gallery viewing option for Finder shows a huge preview version of a photo or document, with thumbnails scrolling below. All content stands out better in the Dark Mode, and chances are, you will probably leave this on most of the time for the sheer visual brilliance.

Let us know what you think of the new betas and Apple's other announcements today down below in the comments. In addition, you can run custom Automator Actions on files directly from Finder with Quick Actions. Here's a quick rundown of some of the key features. That said, despite the popularity of the iPhone and iOS, macOS isn't going anywhere.

Screenshots got some attention in the keynote as well. Similarly, there are videos that autoplay to give dynamic app previews to users. Users can customize their Stacks to sort based on other file attributes like date and tags. But this release seems to align even more closely to Microsoft's efforts, as macOS Mojave features a revamped App Store and a dark user interface mode, just like Windows 10. Each of the apps bears a striking resemblance to their iPad counterparts.

While Apple is making it easier to port apps to macOS, it is shying away from detailing the monetization plan which remains a concern for developers. Apple said that News, Stocks, Voice Memos, and Home were all added to Mojave using the upcoming frameworks. The app gets a new Browse tab and a new sidebar on the iPad. In News, the tab bar is replaced by a left-hand side panel.

Apple is finally bringing the Home app to MacOS.

Nigeria World Cup kit drives fans wild ahead of England friendly
Despite the shirts going on sale for £60, buyers on eBay are bidding more than £155 for their own World Cup top. The home kit pays subtle homage to Nigeria's '94 shirt and was just as popular in stores.

Apple showcased the new Memojis for messages. The service has improved significantly with each subsequent iteration of iOS and is now coming to the Mac.

You don't need a third party app to turn a portion of your screen into a video any more. Apps like the calendar and Safari will have a gray background.

The new Mac App Store is a flawless, modernized marriage between the old Mac App Store and the iOS App Store.

Next up, FaceTime gets an update with Group FaceTime which will now allow you to FaceTime with up to 32 people simultaneously.

Mojave will add new security and privacy functionality too. Users will be able to lock down access to their camera, location, microphone, cookies, messaging history, and more. "They beg us to use their apps".
