WatchOS 5 is ready to push Apple Watch into the future

Some of the many new watchOS 5 features Apple didn't have time to cover.

It means you can start your workout and you'll get a notification from your wrist asking if you want to start an activity within the Workouts app. There is also an auto-work detection feature that as its name suggests, auto-detects the start and end of a workout using the built-in sensors of the Apple Watch and using machine learning algorithms. After accepting the request, you'll be able to send a quick voice message. It now offers more predictive and proactive shortcuts throughout the day based on routines, locations and information such as heart rate after a workout, commute time with Maps at the appropriate time of day or sports scores for a favorite team. Siri shortcuts are one of the biggest additions as well and which we have detailed in our iOS 12 announcement. When Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2 in 2016, the gold watch disappeared from Apple's online store entirely. For starters, you can now raise your wrist and instantly talk to the assistant, skipping the "Hey Siri" trigger.

You'll also need to have an iPhone 5S or later with iOS 12 onboard to be able to download watchOS 5.

watchOS 5 will be available as a free update this fall for all Apple Watch Series 1 and later models. You will adhere to a number of actions that you can perform on the notifications. All of this happens without a dedicated web browser.

You'll both be competing against each other to see who can earn the most points and close the most Rings in the Activity app over a week long period.

Phoenix killings of psychiatrist, 2 women linked
A man suspected of killing at least four people in Scottsdale, Arizona is dead, law enforcement sources told ABC News. Police say one of the women managed to walk to an intersection to seek help despite a gunshot wound to her head.

The Podcasts app is finally coming to the Apple Watch. Podcasts on the Apple Watch would definitely please a lot of users coupled with wireless headphones of course. There's also Student ID Card integration, letting students of supporting universities make their Apple Watch a virtual student ID card.

Keep track of all your activity.

Notifications on the Apple Watch are getting more actionable, allowing you to do things like pay for a rideshare and rate the driver, directly from the notification.

WWDC is happening right now, as we'll be updating this post live as more details are announced. Some features may not be available in all regions.
