Instagram will reportedly let users upload hour-long videos soon

The update, which has yet to be confirmed, would reportedly serve as an extension of Instagram Stories - where users can post series of 15-second videos that disappear after 24 hours.

At the moment, Instagram, like Snapchat, has hard limits on how long any given video clip can run. Since then, video has only become more of a priority for Instagram and its parent company Facebook, as Instagram Stories has proven to be a wild success and users are sharing more video than ever.

The feature will be geared towards vertical video, according to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news. The service surpassed 800 million monthly active users last September, 500 million of which visit the service every single day.

ASUS' Zen AiO Pro swivels on its screen hinge
The redesigned ZenBook Pro 15 UX580 has a new trick to show off - a totally new touchscreen trackpad known as the ScreenPad . The convertible comes powered by the 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor backed by 16GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the report stated that the social network will focus on vertical video.

The FADER has contacted Instagram for comment. Users can now post long-form videos to Instagram, but only via ad-free live streams.

Adding long-form video could help Facebook to further monetize Instagram's sizable audience.
