President Trump commutes sentence of Alice Johnson after Kim Kardashian meeting

Kim Kardashian center arrives at the security entrance of the White House on May 30

Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother, has been serving a life sentence without parole for a first time drug offense, the White House said in its statement. With the help of her personal attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, Kardashian West has been working to procure legal funds for Johnson's pardon and bring awareness to her case.

"I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon", said Kim, in a statement after the meeting. The 1994 indictment describes dozens of deliveries and drug transactions, many involving Johnson.

CNN reported Johnson has already "served 21 years of her life sentence after she was convicted on charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine and attempted possession of cocaine".

Johnson, 63, was convicted in Tennessee in 1996 and sentenced to life in prison on federal drug possession and money laundering charges. She also met with Trump in the Oval Office, a photograph of which the president posted on Twitter.

"Once Alice's family joined the call, the tears never stopped flowing", he added. The majority of users appear to be excited for Johnson, while others are astonished that Kardashian was able accomplishment what many had been fighting years for.

During the phone interview with Anderson Cooper Wednesday night, Johnson said she received the news via a phone call from Kardashian herself earlier today, something Kardashian also tweeted about.

Almost 200 missing after new round of eruptions in Guatemala
Numerous victims are unrecognisable, with officials warning that DNA testing and other methods may be needed to identify them. Air Force plane was flying in today to take about a half-dozen children who suffered burns for treatment in Galveston, Texas.

"Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance", she continued. "Telling her and hearing her screams while crying together is a moment I will never forget".

Johnson's warden, case manager and vocational training instructor each wrote letters in support of her clemency.

After lobbying from Kim Kardashian, Donald Trump has commuted the prison sentence of a woman serving a life sentence for selling drugs.

A White House official familiar with the clemency process said that Trump continues to examine the cases of people who he believes have been victims of the criminal justice system.

Democrats and Trump critics have warned that the president might be sending a message to his former aides and associates caught up in the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation or the probe of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen by the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office. She went on to say that her heart "is so full of gratitude for the attractive inside and out Kim Khardashian West who made a decision to advocate for and essentially save the life of my mother, someone she had never heard of or met!" He pardoned the late heavyweight boxer Jack Johnson, controversial former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a former top aide to then-Vice President Dick Cheney.
