Durant delivers deja vu ‘assassin’ dagger into Cavaliers

Andre Iguodala expected to play Game 3 of NBA finals

The Sixers shot only 38 percent for the quarter, while Golden State heated up, hitting over 50 percent of their shots.

A late Kevin Durant triple has led the Golden State Warriors to a thrilling Game 3 win in the NBA Finals over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Cleveland fans were silenced in the same fashion, but the Warriors rejoiced a little more in this moment.

"This game was like deja vu of game three previous year for him just all the way around", said Golden State's Draymond Green. Green described it "almost like I was cussing him out".

CLEVELAND, Ohio - On a night when most of the Golden State Warriors didn't have it, Kevin Durant went on an offensive explosion.

Don't let Durant fool you, though. "Some of those shots, I don't think anybody in the world can hit those but him". Kerr isn't sure how many minutes Iguodala will be called upon to play. "So, I was definitely excited". Golden State, trying to win the Larry O'Brien Trophy for the third time in four years, leads the best-of-seven series, 3-0.

Durant, once again, has taken over the center stage. Markelle Fultz and Robert Covington combined for 26 points off the bench to keep pressure on the Warriors.

The Warriors also got solid minutes from their big men, with JaVale McGee and Jordan Bell both combining for 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting.

"You know, we've got a lot of depth", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "It seemed like every time we needed a bucket he got it for us". This time, the longer one put Golden State up by six and sent fans starting to head toward the exits.

French Open 2018 - Dominic Thiem vs Alexander Zverev Preview
Play was suspended due to fading light, with Russian Daria Kasatkina leading 7-6 (5) 3-3 against second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki. He was fortunate to survive a break point when serving for the set at 5-3, before drawing level at two sets apiece with an ace.

That continued in the second quarter. Golden State was led by Kevin Durant with 22 points on 7-10 shooting and Steph Curry with 16. That came when his teammates were an uncharacteristic 1-of-11 from beyond the arc. He has not played since Game 3 of the Western Conference finals against Houston, and the Warriors have gone 4-2 since he got hurt. "For him just as a person to be healthy and to be able to play in the Finals.I think that would mean a lot to him and give us an emotional boost as well". "I found some great spots, and my teammates did a great job of setting screens to set me up".

As they've done throughout the playoffs, the Warriors surged in the third quarter, outscoring the Cavaliers 31-23 to take an 83-81 lead into the fourth quarter.

The cards are stacked against LeBron James and the Cavaliers, with teams that have fallen behind 0-3 in the playoffs having never come back to win the series.

Cavs coach Tyronn Lue plans to switch up his rotation and play forward Rodney Hood, whose role has been reduced since the start of the postseason. "He was four or five feet behind the line. They rise to the occasion, and that's what Golden State has done the last four years".

Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 7-18 ATS in their last 25 games following a win, 7-21-1 ATS in their last 29 games following a win of more than 10 points and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 road games against a team with a winning home record.

The Cavaliers regained control in the second quarter by dominating the glass and playing smothering defense on Curry.

If James is the reason the Warriors signed Durant, then Durant might be the reason James chooses another home.

The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are in a hole that might as well be 6 feet deep. Cleveland came back from a 3-1 deficit to stun the Warriors in the 2016 finals, but that was when Durant was in Oklahoma City and James had a different supporting cast. "That's what he does".

And if Stephen Curry makes one 3-pointer in Game 3, he will become the first player in National Basketball Association history with a 3-pointer in 43 consecutive playoff road games.
