Heinz plans to rename Salad Cream as 'sandwich cream'

Heinz Salad Cream could be renamed ‘sandwich cream’ for this surprising reason

It's been called Salad Cream since 1914, but now Heinz are potentially re-branding the tangy condiment and switching its name to Sandwich Cream...

The survey found it is viewed by consumers as an alternative to mayonnaise, and popularly paired with tuna, ham or cheese in sandwiches.

The shocking move comes after it was revealed that only 14 per cent of shoppers admitted to using the sauce on salads, suggesting that the name no longer reflects what people use it for.

This is not the first time that the brand has come under threat.

Heinz sparked outrage across Britain by announcing its product would be re-branded as "Sandwich Cream".

Maybe Heinz should say millennials think it's cream you put on your face while eating salad, like some sort of protective covering?

'Sandwich cream? Just because salad cream is not used on salads.

Justice Department Offers Lawmakers Another Briefing on Confidential Informant
But in a release, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr said the committee is cooperating with the department. The department originally denied Congress access to any of the documents, citing national security concerns.

United Kingdom sales of the brand dipped 5.4 per cent to £28.8million a year ago.

The change is apparently due to the fact very few people now actually eat it on salad - with most opting instead to slather it on, you guessed it, their sandwiches.

Salad Cream was launched by Heinz for the United Kingdom market.

Joel Hughes from Kraft Heinz said: "We are reviewing the brand's name to reflect how the product is enjoyed by consumers every day, and with the majority usage now with sandwiches, we can confirm that "Sandwich Cream" is one of the names being considered".

But Lidl and Morrisons bosses also said there were "no plans" to change the name of their own products.

It is thought the cream could have its new name by September.
