Argentina replace injured Manuel Lanzini with River Plate star Enzo Perez

Manuel Lanzini Argentina

Manuel Lanzini became the latest addition to the casualty list this week, as he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in training. In simpler terms, Lanzini ruptured his ACL and will likely require surgery.

The West Ham United player has suffered a bad ACL injury and is out of the team.

The 25-year old was set to play a crucial role for Argentina in the World Cup this summer.

Argentina could well have done with a supplemental talent like the Hammers man, too, with forwards Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala crying out for a steady supply of ammunition.

Sampaoli and his technical crew will now quickly decide the player who will replace Lanzini in the coming days. Lanzini would have been an option starting for Jorge Sampaoli, and given Argentina some speed and spark in a potential win or go home scenario.

Trump praises EPA chief Pruitt under fire for ethics, spending
As EPA chief, Pruitt has received round-the-clock protection since he took office in February 2017. At the time , Sydney Hupp, 25, was also working in Pruitt's office as an EPA scheduler.

Argentina are in Group D with Iceland - whom they play in their 16 June opener - as well as Nigeria and Croatia.

The severity of the injury suggests the Argentine will miss the opening weeks of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign although it yet to be confirmed.

Lanzini is now expected to head back to London for more analysis and treatment while the other head to Russian Federation.

West Ham needs Lanzini badly. He could move Mark Arnautovic to that spot to start the season if West Ham is able to keep him.
