Authorities identify woman bitten by alligator

Woman is dragged into a Florida lake by an alligator while out walking her dogs

Shizuka Matsuki, 47, of Plantation was the woman who was pulled into a lake by a gator while she was out walking her dogs, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

A man who claims to be a family friend said the victim's husband is in Chicago and is rushing to the scene. Dale Engle told The Sun Sentinel.

The body of a missing Florida woman, believed to have been dragged into a lake by an alligator, has been found - and an arm was found inside an alligator, Inside Edition is reporting.

One of the dogs was found with a fresh wound, but Matsuki was missing. She had been seen out walking her dogs, when a resident reported that they later saw the dogs alone, refusing to leave the area near the lake. Officials said they believe Matsuki is dead, and recovery efforts will continue.

Gallinal said trappers have spotted a 12-foot (3.5-meter) alligator in the pond.

The dogs have since been taken in by animal control.

The most recent death in Florida happened in 2016, when a 2-year-old boy was snatched by an alligator while playing in a lagoon at a Disney resort.
