Six people have been reported sick in IL, 11 in in in, 32 in MI, 10 in Missouri, and one in Ohio. IN has had 11 sickened, while Missouri has had 10, OH has had one case and IL six. The FDA is working to identify a supplier of pre-cut melon to stores connected to the outbreak.

Health officials are investigating a multi-state outbreak of salmonella linked to the consumption of pre-cut melons purchased at grocery stores.

Those who reported illness said they had eaten pre-cut cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew melon, or a fruit salad mix with melon. An investigation is still ongoing to determine if other states or stores are affected by the outbreak. In some cases, however, diarrhea may be so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized.

Most people recover from a salmonella infection without treatment. "If you have recently eaten pre-cut melon from a Walmart store and experience diarrhea, fever, and cramps, contact your health care provider".
