Robert De Niro didn't hold back at the Tony Awards, using an expletive to blast US President Donald Trump.

Actor Robert De Niro, an outspoken Trump critic, went on a profanity-laced rant against Trump during Sunday night's Tony Awards.

While audiences at home tried to figure out what he had said, Tony Kushner repeated De Niro's sharp rebuff of the president.

Although the CBS network censored the Raging Bull actor, Australians were treated to the rant in its full glory. He thanked the creators of the show "for being courageous for telling a small story about Arabs and Israelis getting along at a time that we need that more than ever".

Without any warning, he announced: "I'm gonna say one thing".

Grit and heart were the big winners at last night's Tony Awards - no more evident than when drama students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High wowed Radio City with a heart-wrenching performance of "Seasons of Love" from Rent.

India’s top space agency discovers an EPIC planet 600-light years away
Isro said very few such spectrographs exist around the world (mostly in the USA and Europe) that can do such precise measurements. The surface temperature of the planet was recorded around 600 degree Celsius due to its close proximity to the host star.

It lost the Best Musical award to The Band's Visit, which swept most of the major categories at the 2018 Tony Awards, winning that top trophy and nine others.

The NY Daily News reports that the audience roared with applause and stood up in support of De Niro's profanity-laced tirade.

Not everyone was a fan of De Niro's choice words. After getting a standing ovation, he doubled down on the sentiment, saying, "It's no longer 'Down with Trump, ' it's 'F*** Trump'". "I know what you're all thinking, sure", Groban said.

Bruce Springsteen was presented a special Tony Award by Billy Joel for his hugely popular show "Springsteen on Broadway, " and Springsteen later performed. Although De Niro was heavily censored during the USA telecast, his comments weren't bleeped during the Australian telecast. "The offensive language was deleted from the broadcast", CBS said in a statement.

There may not be any angels in America, but according to De Niro there's at least one devil.
