Kate Middleton takes George and Charlotte to watch William in polo match

The Duke of Cambridge was effectively upstaged at the event by his adorable progeny, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

So it was a real surprise when Catherine and her two eldest children, George and Charlotte, were photographed attending the Maserati Royal Charity Polo match in Gloucester on Sunday, in support of dad William.

Sure Kate Middleton is the Duchess of Cambridge, but she is also a mother-of-three who finds herself on casual outings with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and now Prince Louis.

Princess Eugenie, along with her sister Princess Beatrice, however, are not considered to be working royals despite being princesses of the blood, as evidenced by the fact that they are not featured on the royal family's royal.uk website. He and Kate also spent time playing with a rainbow slinky.

Prince George will be king someday, but that doesn't make him immune to a little teasing from his older cousin, Savannah Phillips.

However, images of young George wielding a toy gun (and a toy knife) spoiled the mood online.

Footage, which has been posted to Twitter by royal fans, shows the youngster clapping as the family stood on the balcony after the traditional fly past. My American side here, biased maybe b/c of everyday #gunviolence in United States of America, but my British side agrees.

The choice to allow children to play with toy guns is "intensely personal", says Deborah Gilboa, MD, a parenting and youth development expert.

Kate kept a close eye on her little girl and oldest son, who spent much of the day chasing after each other and their cousin Savannah Phillips.

What do you think about the toy gun?

Prince Harry played with a toy gun in 1990.
