Conor McGregor in plea negotiations after melee

Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor is in plea negotiations to resolve charges stemming from a backstage melee at a NY arena. Though fans around the world awaited his punishment with baited breath, it appears they'll have to wait a bit longer as an additional hearing has been set for July 26, 2018.

"I regret my actions that lead me here today", the heavily tattooed McGregor told reporters as he left the courthouse.

McGregor, the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight and lightweight titleholder, was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief after being arrested on April 6.

The Irish MMA fighter, 29, was alleged to have thrown objects at the bus during a press event at the Barclays Centre before UFC 223 which smashed a window. Like McGregor, Cowley is charged with third-degree assault, criminal mischief and other charges. McGregor has come out and said yesterday and today to various media outlets that he expects to be cleared on all charges.

Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor is due in court for a hearing on charges stemming from a backstage melee that was caught on video. Audie Attar, his manager, said all talk of future fights will be put on hold until after the return to court next month. "Right now we're in negotiations with the district attorney".

Judge Raymond Rodriguez adjourned the case until July 26.

Nurmagomedov wasn't injured in the attack, and went on to defeat Al Iaquinta for UFC's lightweight title two days later.

Do you think Conor McGregor gets a slap on the wrist for the April incident? According to White, he said it "had to be done". But he and an entourage were let into the arena by someone affiliated with a credentialed website, UFC president Dana White has said.
