Jason Momoa is very, very wet in new 'Aquaman' pictures

‘Aquaman’ exclusive: First look at Black Manta

But Black Manta isn't the only villain Aquaman will have to face off against.

New information about the upcoming movie Aquaman has recently surfaced. The stills introduce Nicole Kidman has Queen Atlanna, bring back a more buff Jason Momoa as Aquaman and the stunning Amber Heard as Mera.

Out of all the new details that surfaced today, the oddest bit is what Nicole Kidman looks like in her costume as Queen Atlanna. Other actors set to appear include Star Wars actor Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Ludi Lin as Murk.

The film releases in cinemas on Friday, 21 December. It's an action movie that takes place mainly underwater, something that could either be brilliant or absolutely bad.

The veritable tidal wave of images from director James Wan's Aquaman continues with the first images of Patrick Wilson as King Orm and Willem Dafoe as Vulko. Black Manta is a really interesting character who is somehow factored into this story. In the film, Black Manta is a high-seas pirate and mercenary named David Kane, which puts a spin on the character's comics origin story. Theorizing aside though, the long-awaited first image of the famous Black Manta looks pretty cool.

The Black Manta helmet looks quite nifty, however, and I like how Wan has found a grounded way for the character to make sense.

Black Manta is really a pirate and mercenary named David Kane (A slight change from the comic book character named David Hyde) who dons an incredible super suit that makes him one of Aquaman's most risky foes. "He's [Black Manta] part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some insane alien from outer space", Wan teases to EW.
