Johnston laughs at Phil Mickelson putting moving ball

VIDEO Phil Mickelson Hits Moving Ball Out of Frustration at U.S. Open

Phil Mickelson's frustrations are getting the best of him at the U.S. Open to the point he hit a moving ball with his putter. He was docked two shots under Rule 14-5 - and recorded a 10 on the hole - and then defiantly stated afterward that he knew the rules and decided that he'd rather take the penalty than play Ping-Pong around the severely undulating green at Shinnecock Hills.

The U.S. Open remains the only major that Phil hasn't captured in his career, after Masters wins in 2004, 2006, and 2010, a PGA Championship in 2005, and a British Open in 2013.

"I know it's a two-shot penalty hitting a moving ball; it's my understanding of the rules". In that situation, I was just going back and forth.

Mickelson jogged after the ball after it curled around the hole, realizing it was about to head down the other side of the green. Mickelson's bogey putt from above the hole ran by the cup and was headed down a slope when he ran over and swatted it back toward the hole as the ball was still moving.

"Oh, no question; it was going to go down in the same spot behind the bunker and I wasn't going to have a shot", Mickelson said. "It was amusing because I didn't think he hit that bad of a chip shot from behind the green in the first place".

His playing partner, Andrew "Beef" Johnston, stared at Mickelson in disbelief.

He needed eight strokes to get the ball in the hole and with a two-stroke penalty walked off with a sextuple bogey 10 on the way to his highest ever round in 27 US Open appearances of 11-over 81. It's best to let him tell you what happened from the best seat in the house.

Donald Trump, Trump Foundation sued by NY over 'unlawful political coordination'
The $25,000 check was sent from his personal foundation to a political committee supporting Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Lewandowski wrote in a January 29, 2016 email to Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg.

"No, no. I don't think anyone has", he said. "I would gladly take the two shots over continuing that display".

Serious breaches of this rule could result in disqualification.

"He didn't deflect it or stop it". I'm having trouble getting the ball close around the greens. That made for a 14, a total of 83 in the first round, and a withdrawal.

Mickelson said that disrespecting the game wasn't his intent, that he didn't think the move would damage his reputation, and that any fans or players who were offended by his actions needed to "toughen up".

"It's certainly not meant that way", he said.

"So to knock that past and then hit the putt going back towards back off the green, I think it's just one of the moments where you're not thinking about it".

Mickelson didn't quite convert on the alley-oop; he waited until his ball was almost eight feet past the hole and his putback lipped out.
